Cozy in My Cow Towel

I finally got some really good pictures of Will's teeth. Here he is after his bath all cozy in his "cow towel" that our dear friend Kara made for him. Isn't it cute? Not quite as cute as the baby in it, though!

Even if you can't quite tell, he has a total of four teeth, now. Three on the bottom and one on top. We're pretty sure that more are going to be poking their little heads through soon, though.

On Monday, Will weighed 16 lbs, 5.4 oz. He has been saying "ma ma" and "da da" indiscriminately a lot lately. He is also working on standing and pulling up. He's still doing an army-type crawl; he hasn't gotten up on his hands and knees yet. It will come soon enough!

The Greatest Gifts

I snapped this picture the other morning when Will and Scott were still in bed. Will was in an extremely playful mood...I managed to capture him in the middle of laughter. I am so blessed to have such a beautiful, precious, sweet son. I am doubly blessed to have a caring, loving, supportive husband. I have so many wonderful blessings in my life, but these are the greatest of all.

Look at those Pearly Whites!

Sweet Dreams

After a day filled with complaining, crying, whimpering, random "peeps" and other things that make your child not as cute as they could be, they fall asleep and take your breath away at how precious and cute they are. Here are pictures of Will clutching his "softy"/"silky." He looks soooo innocent and untainted by all that is in the world. He feels safe and secure, armed only with a soft piece of fabric. [He does not have a blankie, woobie, or any other girlie-rag. It is just a sleeping aid like breathe-right strips or a dark-mask.] Watching him sleep makes me wish that a lot more of the world was innocent and untainted. Will doesn't loose sleep over things like work, mortgage payments, self-image, guilt, revenge, hurt feelings, regret, unattainable desires, etc. He has done nothing to hinder his sleep and he gives nothing the power to delay his sleep. He lives very much in the moment (which is probably why he fights against going to sleep). He will wake up in about eight hours with a big smile on his face for me and a readiness for new experiences. His conscience is clear and his heart is pure. Maybe that is why he looks so cute.

It's times like these that make me wish I were more like him. At one time we were all innocent and cute. For each of us there was a time, a singular event that changed how we saw the world forever more. As a youth minister, I can see the change from week to week. One week a little girl is sitting in your class who wants nothing more than to be a little girl. Innocence covers her face in a way that Revlon never will. Then the next week it is gone. It is like someone covered it up with this new face that looks pretty much the same, but something inexplicable and indefinable is gone. Something happened to them that week or they chose to cross a line and it vanished. Along with that innocence, sweet dreams slowly disappear. At first we don't know why, but the world looks different. After a while, we don't even notice a difference. But when we look at babies, especially whey they are sleeping, we remember once upon a time when we were like that. Inwardly, we decide that we will do everything in our power to keep this sleeping beauty just the way he is for as long as possible. We envy his sweet dreams. More importantly, we want to protect another's sweet dreams. And we wonder, could we ever be like that again? Hmmmmm....

Now You See Him...Now You Don't

Will is modeling his camouflage sleeper from Uncle Kendall. Isn't he posing nicely?

This picture is sort of blurry but still really cute. You can even sort of see Will's teeth! That's Nana Terri holding him :)

9 months old

Today is Will's 9 month birthday! I can't believe our baby boy is already 9 months old! It seems like he was just born a little while ago. Before we know it, he'll be having his first birthday party [sob!].

Tomorrow we are making the trek to Lubbock for Master Follies. Nana Terri is flying in from Houston tonight, so we get to go to Midland too :) (Yea, maybe I can make an excuse to go to Target!) I will try to get some pictures this weekend and when we get back, I will post them.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Smile!

We attempted to get some pictures of Will's two new teeth, but failed miserably. Instead, I am posting some one the ones we did get. As you can see, he is feeling much better (despite the new ear infection!). Thanks for all your prayers :)

Eww...

On Tuesday, Will was still feeling pretty bad and was still having lots of bad diapers, so I called the doctor and she wanted to run some labs on him. We found out on Wednesday that he has rotavirus. Not good! She said he may continue to have stomach problems until next Monday or Tuesday. He seems to be doing better now--he's eating better and such--but he still just isn't "Will." Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

It looks like Scott may be coming down with it now, too, so pray for him as well. Thankfully, Scott's mom, La Don, is here to help me take care of my boys! When we all get well, we'll post some more pictures and good news. Thanks for checking on us :)
